“I need to stretch again
It is in quiet deliberation,
I don’t stretch my wings
Unless I want to fly again,
Don’t want to fall.”

Excerpt; from Poem ‘One drop encompassing All,’ By
bird of light

When man awakens to his intrinsic relationship with nature – he, like the bird pictured, has a rude awakening. Bird sees self as other, a rigid view, which has resulted in man’s misappropriation of Nature. This epitomizes the typical western view of Nature as other; and somehow remote. As Suzuki says, “What we do to the oceans we do to ourselves.”
